Lewis is Patent Of Counsel to the Firm and specializes in patent and trademark law, with experience involving patent acquisition, appeals, licensing, government contracts, infringement evaluations, and intellectual property counseling. He has more than thirty years experience including defining and implementing client patent strategies and objectives, budget development and planning, establishing domestic and foreign patent protection criteria, preparing and prosecuting patent and trademark applications, directing and overseeing foreign intellectual property acquisition, licensing, joint venture and teaming, infringement and enforcement.

    Prior Experience

  • Corporate Patent Attorney, Rockwell International Corporation -- Prepared and filed US and foreign patent applications; conducted aggressive prosecution-to-patent campaign to obtain substantial, licensable, protection for various new and growing technologies; advised management on competing products, and aided in evaluating and prioritizing new and developing technologies; counseled management in identifying innovations and ownership rights arising from joint ventures, government and commercial contracts, teaming and consortium agreements; drafted and negotiated government (DOD, NASA, ARPA) and commercial contracts and proposals, including intellectual property and data rights clauses, with view toward protecting Divisions' rights of commercial exploitation.

  • Intellectual Property Of counsel, Browdy and Neimark -- counseled individuals and corporations on patent, trademark, copyright, government contract, infringement, right-to-use, advertising and product liability matters.

  • Patent Examiner, U.S. Patent Office -- Attained GS-13 Examiner position with full docket of applications for examination in mechanical, electro-mechanical and electrical arts; held 6 month clerkship at Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, analyzing facts and briefs in controversies brought before the Board, and drafting opinions for the Court.
  • Engineer, Rotor Design Group, Sikorsky Aircraft Company -- Designed helicopter rotor systems, and developed software for the design and structural analysis of rotor components in elastic, plastic and fatigue modes of operation/failure.
